Prof. Dr. Evelyn Korn, *1969 in Bochum, Scientific Director

is Vice-President for University Culture and Quality Development at Philipps-Universität Marburg since February 2022; from 2004 on she had been holding the Professorship for Economics, in particular Microeconomics, and was Vice-President for Studies and Teaching from 2016 to 2022. She led the Marburg projects on the Quality Pact for Teaching and the Quality Offensive in Teacher Education as well as the collaborative project “Digitally Supported Teaching and Learning in Hessen” (now HessenHub).

She studied mathematics at the Technische Universität Dortmund, obtained her doctorate degree in economics there, and habilitated in business administration at the Universität Tübingen. Furthermore, she is a trained systemic organisational developer.

Evelyn Korn’s research focuses on the enhancement of cooperative behaviour in various contexts – from state organisation in ancient societies and management of companies to the compatibility of family and work.

The topic of cooperation is something she is engaged with not only in research but also in practice. She is member of the Scientific Advisory Board for Family Affairs of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth. At an early stage of her academic career, she began to develop innovative didactic concepts that view the seminar room as a “knowledge commons”. She was awarded the Ars Legendi Prize for excellent university teaching by the Stifterverband and the German Rectors’ Conference.
