Who we are and what we do
We launched in 2021 with the objective of facilitating innovation in teaching and learning at universities as well as continuously strengthening the capacity for renewal in teaching practice because universities are where students acquire professional skills, the ability to take action, and personal development. Enabling them to learn effectively and to experience the joy of learning requires innovative approaches to university teaching.
We provide funding for suitable projects at individual universities or under collaborative programmes on the basis of science-led selection procedures. We also create networking opportunities for course designers, support the exchange of project results, successes, and challenges, and provide access to shared knowledge. We are in constant dialogue with university members about their needs, new topics, and questions and our work is guided by the motto “by the community for the community”. Our programme and support benefit the German university landscape across the board. We have an annual budget of 150 million euros, which is provided by the federal and state governments.
