Whilst innovation is not an end in itself, effective university teaching must be adaptable in order to keep pace with changing needs, conditions, and opportunities, and to prepare for an as yet unknown future. In this way, universities can provide their students with the skills they need to apply their knowledge, ideas and personalities to shape society both now and in the future.
By founding our organisation, the federal and state governments have established an institution whose express objective is to promote the long-term capacity for renewal in university teaching. Universities will receive support in order for them to be able to adapt more rapidly and better to emerging societal challenges and needs, whereby we address the German university scene across the board.
Based on this objective, we provide funding for suitable projects at specific universities or which are realised under collaborative programmes. We also create networking opportunities for course designers, promote the transfer of knowledge between universities, and support the exchange of project results, successes, and challenges.
