Tasks & Objectives
Innovation, Networking and Knowledge Transfer
Education paves the way for the future. We provide targeted incentives for systemic change in studying and teaching, and we support outstanding projects in their implementation. Students leave university professionally competent, critically aware and creative, ready to shape the world.
Innovation is not an end in itself but a process which should empower institutions of higher education to evolve with ever-changing needs, frameworks and opportunities, allowing them to navigate effectively towards a future that we do not yet know. With our foundation, the federal and state governments have established an organisation whose intention is to promote the ability to modify higher-education teaching in the long term. By supporting higher education providers in the face of ongoing change to the social and technological environment, we ensure that innovations are permanently rooted in teaching, thereby strengthening the role of institutions of higher education in society.
We see that the greatest potential of institutions of higher education lies with the people who work, teach and study there. As education is a shared task, our programmes embrace the diversity of all groups within the academic system and this diversity stretches across the entire German higher education landscape.
To promote projects with a forward-looking perspective, whether funding applications are individual or structural, we are establishing a system of ongoing and permanent calls for proposals. By creating scope for experimentation and promoting equal opportunities in the higher education system, we also offer support to teaching staff in the design, development and wider acceptance of teaching innovations. We also increase interaction and networking opportunities for the relevant stakeholders and secure education-focused community building within the academic system. This also includes organising knowledge transfer at institutions of higher education and providing an overview of current discourse. Our intention here is to provide incentives for quality improvement and renewal.
